Saint Harkewal Shiksha Mahavidyalaya, Ambikapur, is a non-government, self-financing professional college, operating in accordance with the National Council for Teacher Education (Norms and Standards for Teacher Education Programs) Regulations, 2001, published in the Government of India's Extraordinary Gazette, Part III, Section 4, New Delhi, Tuesday, September 4, 2001. With the commitment to meet the College education needs of Chhattisgarh and to establish excellence in teacher education, the current Saint Harkewal Shikshan Samiti began operating this college in 2005. While government directives for this college are received from the Chhattisgarh State Council of Educational Research and Training, Raipur, (College Code-121303)and the Directorate of Higher Education, academic and B.Ed. curriculum guidance are received through the National Council for Teacher Education, Western Regional Committee, (College Code-723015) the University Grants Commission, and Sant Gahira Guru Vishwavidyalaya, Ambikapur, Surguja.C.G.,(College Code-011) The college is accredited by these premier institutions in the field of teacher education.
The Advanced Education College offers B.Ed. training courses throughout the Surguja division of Chhattisgarh. As such, it is the only Advanced Education College in the region currently offering B.Ed. training. This college will play a significant role in meeting the Surguja region's teacher education needs.
